FIROOZEH BAZAFKAN

Firoozeh Bazrafkan was born in 1982 in Iran and graduated from the Jutland Academy of Fine Arts in Aarhus in 2008. With her Danish-Persian background and a challenging approach to both Western and Middle Eastern society, she is a rare figure in the Scandinavian art scene.
Bazrafkan works in a number of different terms: performance, installation, photography, video, drawing, painting and sound. Her works of art revolve around basic themes such as religion, gender and (freedom of expression). During her career, she has been an active figure in the public discourse in Denmark, i.a. as a TV art critic and blogger in the newspaper Jyllands-Posten.
Firoozeh Bazrafkan made his breakthrough in 2007 with the installation "Vantro" and has since participated in several exhibitions in Denmark and abroad. This season she has a solo exhibition in Læsø Kunsthal and participates in the international group exhibition "The Political Art" at the Center for Contemporary Art, Ujazdowski Castle in Warsaw, Poland.
