RIKKE NYGAARD
STAND #60

In Rikke Nygaard's work with images, she has developed a pictorial language, which means that you will often be able to recognize individual elements in several works - even if the work is experienced as an abstract painting. A theme that interests her a lot is identity - the individual's being in the world - the way one is present in life. In the pictures, a basic shape is often seen which is "bowl-shaped" and this shape is for Rikke a symbol of the core of an individual. How does the core of our innermost being appear? Are we in touch with it? Or is it hidden in a shell? - do we dare to show vulnerability and be genuinely present in life / time / relationship / parenthood? In this respect, many of Rikke Nygaard's abstract works can almost be seen as a kind of portraits or a picture of communication between people. Both the inner and the outer.

Rikke Nygaard is a graduate of Aalborg Art School and Design School in Kolding. She has exhibited at a number of censored exhibitions, had solo exhibitions in several places in the country and participated in many group exhibitions.

For the past 15 years, Rikke has been independent and lived by her abilities as a visual artist and graphic designer, respectively. As a graphic designer, she works with the classic graphic disciplines such as logo assignments and magazine and book design. But also large decorating assignments, coloring and wayfinding for a number of Danish companies have been through her hands. In parallel, the studio works with its own works - and especially the large works on canvas are found in private homes and at companies in Scandinavia, Germany, France, Switzerland and Denmark.
