JOSEPHINE ERNST
STAND #42

Based on Josephine Ernst´'s education and through many years of work as a set designer, she has chosen to create - outside the walls of the theater - her own worlds and fictional spaces. She works with the contrast between nature and the man-made and human remains.

Josephine says: The tooth of time is very fascinating, because it reminds us of the course of life, its repetitions and endings. At the same time, I also work on breaking the tradition of photography, as a documentary medium. I paint with reality instead of just showing it. Photography can easily tell adventures, visions and show emotions, even if the basic elements spring from everyday life and what is close to us that we otherwise do not have an eye for.

By composing photos in several layers and focusing on the interplay between light and darkness, Josephine achieves a new and different reality, which is then printed on canvas, transparent material or museum paper.
