IIA MADSEN

Iia Madsen was born in 1989 in Sevastopol in the Crimea in Ukraine and was already admitted to a school with lots of painting on the syllabus as a 12-year-old.

Later she moved to Kiev to study at the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture. Here she chose the architecture course, where throughout her studies there was a lot of focus on techniques with accuracy and proportions.

When Iia passed her final exam in 2013, she moved to Italy, where she continued painting. Here she also met the skak resident Jimmy, to whom she is now married. Iia moved to Skagen in 2015, and here she has been greatly inspired by the classic Skagen painters and not least by nature.

Iia Madsen has always painted a lot and has always been inspired and fascinated by landscapes, architecture and nature.

She paints both houses, people and cityscapes, but is most concerned with capturing the light and movements in the waves and the agitated sea. She loves to go to the beach and follow the changing of the seasons and the sea, which is never the same. Iia grew up with the beach and water, and enjoys being so close in Skagen, and with her art she also wants to encourage us all to take good care of nature and the fantastic resources we have.
