ANJA GIESE

Anja Giese come from a background as a graphic designer, which clearly guides her artistic work, as well as her personal taste in art. In her art she mainly express herself through printmaking.

Anja Giese explains: “Reliefprint started as a project for me as an uncomfortable way of expanding my horizon. The stubborn material and all the hard work that go into every single print really set my heart on fire, so it became my main form of expression. Other elements may join or even overlay, but at the core of it, there is almost always a printed matter, that sets the stage.
A lot of my works explore the field of abstract storytelling. Through layering different parts together new content emerges – or dissolves in the process. Often relieving a picture from its orginial orientation.
Another main line of exploration is the field of communication through unknown icons. Abstract symbols that each viewer fills with a different context of their own expectations.”
